Before anything else, we want to remind everyone that you have the power to take control of your life. No one can ever dictate you what to do or what to feel. Stop making excuses for being unhappy and being in a state of desolation. Instead, do whatever it takes to turn your life around. As long as you continue to make an effort to be happy, everything is going to turn out fine soon. Believe in yourself so that everything is going to be easier. Here are the things that you must keep in mind if you wish to achieve genuine happiness that will last a long time:

Know Yourself

The first or initial step that you must do is to get to know yourself. Make sure that you are aware of who you are. Stop trying to be someone else that you are not because it can only mess up your life. Instead, be happy with who you are and be contented with what you have. In getting to know yourself, you will find out that there are so many things to love about you as a person. Remind yourself of the role that you play in the lives of the people surrounding you so that you will become more motivated to enjoy your self.

Exercise Well

One of the things that you must never take for granted is exercising or becoming physically active. As much as possible, spend most of your time engaging in activities or events that can allow you to sweat it all out. If you keep on exercising, your body will release a high level of dopamine or happy hormones. As such, it will be a lot easier for you to be in a good mood and enjoy improved mental health. Aside from this, it can also contribute to making you feel good about yourself because of the confidence and high self-esteem that it can develop. The best part of all is that you only need thirty minutes to one hour of your time to meet your daily fitness goals.

Forgive Others

“The strength of forgiveness has been shown to have a powerful buffering effect on stress. Those who are highly forgiving of themselves and others have a far less chance of having a mental illness.” Ryan M. Niemiec Psy.D. said. If someone has wronged you in the past, make sure that you learn how to forgive their mistakes even if they have not asked for forgiveness. Sometimes, it is better to take the high road if it means being happy for a long period. Stop dwelling in the past because you can never change what has already happened. What is crucial is that you focus on the present and live in the moment. Enjoy every moment you get because you will never know how it will end. The best feeling in this world is having peace of mind because it carries with it the feeling that nothing can ever break you down.

Be With The Best People

Another thing that you must never forget is to see to it that you always surround yourself with the right individuals. Be with people who make it easy for you to love yourself. At the same time, avoid those individuals who do not appreciate how fantastic and amazing you are as a person. “We only have control of ourselves and our own desire for growth and change. Part of that growth and change is deciding the type of person we allow in our lives, and the positive impact they can have on us.” Nikki Martinez, Psy.D. LCPC said. Keep in your mind that it is better to have fewer friends who know the real you than have lots of them, but the relationship or friendship is not real. Being with the right people can improve your mental health too. If someone continues to cause you pain, do hesitate to move away from that person.

As a conclusion, we want to remind you that there is so much to love about life. Make a promise and be committed to yourself that you will make an effort to achieve happiness and mindfulness. It will never be easy, but it is worth it. “Authentic happiness is relating to the entire universe. When someone relates and leaves nothing out, you can see it in the face and posture. There is a presence about a truly happy person, a look that says “Yes,” to oneself, to others, and to the world.” Andrea F. Polard, PsyD said.
